Bruckmühl/Berlin, 02/03/2014: Formula racing youngster Benjamin Mazatis and Berlin-based racing team Mücke Motorsport will compete together in the ADAC Formula Masters in the future.
Just a few days after his 16th birthday, the young driver from Bruckmühl travelled to the German capital to sign the contract and agreed with Managing Director Peter Mücke on an initial two-year collaboration, which includes an extensive testing programme for this season and entry into Germany's most important junior formula racing series, the ADAC Formula Masters, in 2015.
Born in Rosenheim in south-east Bavaria, Benjamin Mazatis started out in slalom karting at the age of six, switched to the circuit just one year later and celebrated his first podium finishes in his debut season. In a shoot-out of the Formula BMW Talent Cup organised by BMW Motorsport in 2012, the then 14-year-old shone with the second-best time and recommended himself for promotion to formula racing. However, current licence regulations made it impossible for the talented youngster to take part in motor racing due to his young age.
Team principal Peter Mücke has built up an excellent reputation as a successful talent promoter in the past, guaranteeing seamless support from the start of formula racing through to the professional classes with a sure instinct and unique commitment. In addition to the ADAC Formula Masters, Mücke Motorsport has been the most successful German team in the Formula 3 Euroseries for many years and has a prominent partner in former F1/DTM driver Ralf Schumacher. As the official Mercedes-Benz works team in the DTM, it has come full circle to professional motorsport.

This was followed by a runner-up finish in the Formula 3 European Championship and a strong debut season for the two DTM rookies coached by Mücke Motorsport. Several of Peter Mücke's former protégés have gone on to enjoy successful motorsport careers: With Christian Klien, Robert Kubica, Sebastian Vettel, Markus Winkelhock, Sebastien Buemi and Sergio Pérez, six drivers have made the leap into Formula 1 and Pascal Wehrlein, the youngest DTM driver of all time, also comes from the Berlin talent factory. I am very proud to now be part of this family and am really looking forward to working with the experienced professionals from Mücke Motorsport in the future."
