Benjamin Mazatis takes off with Reiter Engineering in 2017

Benjamin Mazatis is turning a new chapter in his career. The 19-year-old will compete in the GT4 European Series Northern Cup with Reiter Engineering in 2017. In a KTM X-Bow GT4, the Bruckmühl local is aiming for top placings in a high-calibre and competitive field.
The excellent fit between Reiter Engineering and Benjamin Mazatis was evident at the famous Dubai 24 Hours race. The Bavarian, along with his teammates, battled at the front for the entire race distance, ultimately securing second place in the SP2 class in the KTM X-Bow GT4. This success was a clear indicator for Mazatis‘ decision to compete in the GT4 European Series Northern Cup together with Reiter Engineering.

The conditions could hardly be better. The GT4 European Series Northern Cup's race calendar features six races at historic circuits like Brands Hatch, Zandvoort, or the Nürburgring. From April to September, the championship runs as part of high-calibre series such as DTM, Blancpain GT Series, or ADAC GT Masters, thus captivating a huge audience across Europe.
Three Questions for Benjamin Mazatis
You had various options for the 2017 season. What arguments ultimately led to your choice of Reiter Engineering?
I didn't want to rush into a decision, but rather make the best choice for my future in professional racing. I've achieved this by signing with Reiter Engineering. In January, at the Dubai 24-hour race, I was able to get a sense of how professionally Reiter Engineering works – their years of experience were immediately noticeable. Our shared podium finish with the KTM X-Bow GT4 only strengthened my opinion. I'm incredibly excited about the new challenge and, of course, about working with former Formula 1 driver Tomáš Enge. I'm sure I can learn a lot from him as our Driver Manager.

That's difficult, as there are so many exciting things! From my perspective, the series counts among the most diverse in all of Europe. There are so many different brands and models that all have a chance of top placements due to the Balance of Performance. That also makes the series incredibly interesting for spectators. Of course, the race tracks were also an important factor in my decision. With Brands Hatch, Zandvoort, or even the Nürburgring, there are real classics included, and on top of that, we race as part of top series such as the Blancpain GT Series, the ADAC GT Masters, and the DTM. Simply an unbeatable combination!
How are you preparing for this new challenge?
Fortunately, I already had the opportunity in Dubai to get somewhat used to the KTM X-Bow GT4. I felt super comfortable after just a few laps and I'm sure it will get even better over the season. Until we finally get started on the race track, I'm preparing myself for the circuits in the simulator in England and at home. Of course, consistent fitness training is also part of my daily routine. I want to go into the races 100 percent physically fit. Recently, I've been sharing some of my training sessions on social media. It's important to me to show my fans how much hard work goes into a career as a racing driver. Of course, I hope to be able to share my successes with them over the season too.
