Mazatis dreams of victory

BMW, that's what Benjamin Mazatis from Bruckmühl is hoping for. The 13-year-old has it in his own hands, and above all, in his feet. Because the youngster will be fighting in Valencia, Spain, next week on Monday and Tuesday (21st and 22nd November) for a very special kind of training at the Formula BMW Talent Cup. The shootout is looking for one driver to whom BMW will finance a complete season in the Formula BMW Talent Cup 2012, worth 100,000 Euros.

Bruckmühl's Benjamin Mazatis is approaching the Formula BMW Talent Cup in Valencia with optimism. This event offers a unique training opportunity worth 100,000 Euros. For two days, the 28 participants, who have no prior Formula racing experience, will aim to prove both on and off the track that they have what it takes to become a true racing driver. The individual who best masters the Formula BMW, with its 140 hp and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under four seconds, and who also makes the most professional impression off the track, will take a significant step closer to their dream of Formula 1. One person who made that leap perfectly was two-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel. In 2004, the Heppenheim native won 18 out of 20 races in Formula BMW. „Anyone who goes through the Formula BMW Talent Cup is perfectly prepared for their first season in motorsport,“ says Vettel, who is convinced of the Formula BMW Talent Cup's value.

In the Formula BMW Talent Cup, a total of 15 drivers are systematically introduced to the demands of professional motorsport. Driver coaches and race engineers look after the drivers in small groups, working together on everything from individual driving styles to complete vehicle setups.

The training concept of the Formula BMW Talent Cup relies on the expertise of recognised specialists: motorsport-focused fitness trainers mentor the drivers in fitness and nutrition. Alongside physical condition, the mental aspect also plays an increasingly important role in motorsport. A mental coach imparts strategies for stressful situations on and off the racetrack. Dealing with the media is also becoming ever more crucial. The drivers engage with the content of professional press relations as well as presentation in front of a radio microphone and a television camera. The basis of communication is always the international motorsport language, English. The global nature of the Formula BMW Talent Cup is reflected in the young motorsport athletes’ calendar of events: they travel to circuits all over Europe.
