Mazatis: The future lies in GT and touring car racing
Following his debut season in ADAC Formula 4 in 2015, Benjamin Mazatis is heading in a new direction in motorsport. The 18-year-old is now looking towards GT and touring car racing to continue his career in motorsport. Mazatis already gained his first experience with a GT3 racing car at the beginning of this year.
„After my educational season in ADAC Formula 4, I now want to seek a new challenge,“ says the junior driver from Bruckmühl. „In GT and touring car racing, there are numerous exciting opportunities to realise my big goal: to launch a professional career in motorsport.“
Until Mazatis gets back into full racing action, he is concentrating 100 per cent on successfully completing his A-levels. The school year ends in June 2016. With an excellent certificate in his pocket, his path will then lead him back to the race car. Mazatis has already received numerous attractive offers for guest starts in various European racing series.
Mazatis: „My A-levels are my top priority for now. I know that motorsport is a very fast-moving business. That's why I think it's very important to have good prospects for my future life away from the racetrack. But of course I'm already keen to get back into a racing car. I will use the second half of the year to concentrate fully on racing. The focus is on 2017, then I'll go full throttle again.“
The year 2015 ended extremely successfully for Mazatis. He was chosen by the McLaren Performance Academy as „Driver of Promise“ – the most promising young talent at the renowned academy. The award ceremony took place in a festive setting at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, the home of the British Formula 1 racing team.
