Victory for Benjamin Mazatis on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife
Last weekend it was that time again for Benjamin Mazatis: as part of the VLN Endurance Championship, the driver from Bruckmühl travelled to the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Team Pixum Adrenalin Motorsport, with whom the 20-year-old has already celebrated successes on the 20.832-kilometre track in the past, invited Mazatis to the third VLN race of the season. The Bruckmühler added another chapter to the successful collaboration with a class victory in the SP8T class. Particularly remarkable: Mazatis had no previous experience in the BMW M4 GT4, but drove absolute top times from the start.
The driver from Bruckmühl shared the cockpit with Uwe Ebertz and Swiss driver Manuel Amweg. In qualifying for the 60th ADAC ACAS H&R Cup, Mazatis set competitive times right from the start. The fastest lap in qualifying was set by the driver from Bruckmühl. In the race, Mazatis took the lead in the BMW M4 GT4 in second place and gradually extended his lead. Towards the end of the stint, the 20-year-old had a scary moment: Due to an electrical fault, the car no longer had any drive. Mazatis made it to the pits and the team solved the problem in a flash. Although the lead over the pursuers dwindled, it was still enough to finish at the top of the podium in the SP8T class.
Benjamin Mazatis: „What a great race! Many thanks to the team and my two team-mates. When I got the offer from Team Pixum Adrenalin Motorsport, I just had to take it. Firstly, I love racing on the Nordschleife and secondly, this was the perfect preparation for the upcoming race in the GT4 Central European Cup, which will be held on the Grand Prix circuit at the Nürburgring. In terms of the championship, the race is crucial. That's why it's important to get the best out of it and, in particular, to see the chequered flag in both races. After the long break of over a month, I feel perfectly prepared for the upcoming race.“
